A commitment to ecumenism, prayer, simplicity, and reconciliation characterises the doctrine of the Taize community. The community emphasises the importance of silence, meditation, and chanting in worship. It also promotes a spirit of openness and welcomes people from different Christian denominations and backgrounds.
The Taize community seeks to create a peaceful and contemplative environment where individuals can deepen their relationship with God and foster Christian unity. The community's doctrine encourages a life of faith, love, and service to others.
I have been interested in this community for many years. I think it is worth exploring this form of spirituality, and I find it much more appealing than the dominant evangelical Pentecostalism in my local area.
As I have grown older, I have become increasingly solitary and self-contained. This is reflected in my spirituality becoming more that way as well. The Taize community challenges that, however, originally Brother Roger began the community through a personal life of service, so perhaps that is a good starting point for me as well.
